JMAT Governor Visit Report – EYFS May 2021Link Governors Thurcroft Infant
Our school is linked to Rev. J.C. Faye Lower Basic School in The Gambia. We regularly keep in contact via email and Skype. We have included some of the powerpoints we have received from them below. Both children and staff have learnt a lot about life in the Gambia from these. The children have also received letters from children in the Gambia which the children loved to read!

We would like to direct you to the NSPCC website which gives valuable safeguarding information that you can use with your child.
The Underwear Rule is a simple way that parents can help keep children safe from abuse – without using scary words.
Mathematics at Thurcroft Infant School teaches children how to make sense of the world around them through developing their ability to calculate reason and solve word problems. It enables children to understand relationships and patterns in both number and space in their everyday lives.
At school we use a variety of teaching and learning styles mathematics. Our principal aim is to develop children’s knowledge, skills and understanding. During our daily lessons, we encourage children to ask as well as answer mathematical questions. They have the opportunity to use a wide range of resources, such as number lines, number squares, digit cards, arrow cards and small apparatus to support their work. ICT is used in mathematics lessons for modelling ideas and methods. Wherever possible, we encourage the children to apply their learning to everyday situations and class topics.
In each classroom we have maths meeting interactive displays or working walls to support the current topic.
Every Child Counts displays are changed regularly to support children’s learning.
Children continue their maths learning with outdoor provision.
We like to make maths as practical and fun as possible.
